The Flight Dynamic System responds to the various needs of your mission allowing you to perform:

  • Orbit determination: Calculates the actual orbital parameters of the spacecraft (e.g. position, velocity, air resistance and solar pressure coefficients, transponder delay, on-board clock polarization and ground station biases), starting from an initial estimate and using a series of measurements such as GNSS raw observable measurements, ranging, Doppler or antenna angular data.

  • Orbit Propagation: Predicts the evolution of the spacecraft from an initial state by indicating the ephemeris of the position/velocity considering all foreseen orbital manoeuvres and all major perturbations (e.g. air drag, solar radiation pressure, third body presence and, the higher order and degree of Earth gravitation potential harmonics).

  • Attitude Propagation: Provides the long and short-term orbit and attitude ephemeris, the determination of the main orbital events, and the ground stations’ visibility.

  • Attitude Reconstruction: Reconstructs the satellite attitude using the readings of the on-board attitude sensors.

  • Products generation: Generates the flight dynamics products required by other internal and external subsystems (e.g. pointing data, sequence of orbital events, contact tables, manoeuvre files, orbit data…).

  • Manoeuvre Calculation: Calculates the optimal manoeuvres strategy, considering the mission, operations and physical constraints, as well as the up-to-date orbit and attitude data in order to keep the spacecraft in its nominal orbit, respecting all the requirements of operational constraints.

  • Collision avoidance: Monitors the risks.

  • Reporting: Assists operators and analysts during mission operations.
